John Leo Bell

John Leo Bell, 82, formerly of 119 Covington Road, widower of Dorothy Poole Bell, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late John Leo and Maggie Hall Bell. Mr. Bell was appointed the first Codes Administrator of Greenville County in 1973 where he retired after 23 years of service. He was a member of Calvary First Baptist Church and was a United States Navy Veteran having served during WWII. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry R. and Zelpha Bell of Myrtle Beach, SC, Randy L. and Judy Bell of Greenville; and three grandchildren, Russell Bell and his wife Dawn, PFC John Scott Bell and his wife Bethany of Seattle, WA; and Katherine Elizabeth Bell of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachael Bell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary First Baptist Church Building Fund, 11 Tampa Street, Greenville, SC 29609. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 1:30 PM in Remembrance Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
