John Thomas Michael

John ?Johnny? Thomas Michael, 75, of 112 Mountain Brook Lane, Spartanburg died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Health Center. Born in Providence, RI, he was a son of the late Thomas and Angelina Ebrame Michael. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Michael was a graduate of Bryant College, Providence, RI. He was the former owner and operator of Johnny?s Highland Grocery. As a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg, he served in the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Marie Accari Michael; son, Robert J. Michael of Spartanburg; three daughters, Anna M. Painter, Rita M. Osborne, and Rosemarie Michael, all of Spartanburg; two brothers, Peter Michael of Providence, RI and Paul Michael of Woodland Hills, CA; and granddaughter, Laura Ashley Painter. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Monday at the residence, 112 Mountain Brook Ln., Spartanburg. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, on Tuesday at 11:00 am with the Rite of Committal following at 1:30 pm, Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean St., Spartanburg 29302. The family is at the residence, 112 Mountain Brook Ln., Spartanburg 29301.
