J.B. ?Johnnie? Housley, Jr., passed away on March 11, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born on February 7, 1927 in Epworth, GA., he was the son of the late John Henry and Luvenia Goss Housley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie Virginia Sanders Housley. J.B. was a veteran of WWII and worked for Otis Elevator Company from 1946 until his retirement in 1990. He and Margie worked tirelessly for years researching and publishing the Housley and Sanders family histories, a hobby they both loved. J.B. was well known for his gardening and great love of the outdoors. Surviving are a daughter, Jan Esakov of Inman; two sons, John Housley of Chicago, IL., and Mark Housley of Simpsonville; four brothers, Hoyt, Emmett, Glen, and Elvin Housley; a sister, Ivanell Johnson; four grandchildren, Leslie Skybo, Emily Schmitt, Chris Housley and Max Housley; two step grandchildren, Michael Esakov and Nicki Peoples; and one great granddaughter, Virginia Rose Skybo, who was born on J.B.?s 80th birthday; and
one step great granddaughter, Mackenzie Esakov. He was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Milsaps and three brothers, Lester, Grady and Clarence Housley. Memorials may be made to The SC ALS Association, PO Box 280, Charleston, SC 29402, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the residence, 202 Bartlett Street, Mauldin, SC, and Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.

J.B. was one of the finest man I ever knew. I greatly respected him and enjoyed working with him over the years. He will be missed.
