Johnny Hill Batson

June 30, 1950 - February 7, 2008
Johnny Hill Batson, 57, husband of Linda Gail Taylor Batson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Miles Gail and Ruth Mae Batson. Mr. Batson was a self-employed horse trainer and member of Heritage Baptist Church. Mr. Batson was very active with Feed the Need Food Ministry and Reach 1 More Ministries where he served faithfully as a soul winner. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Melinda Dale Batson and fiance Dale Robinson, Brenda Gale Westbrook and husband Michael, and Michelle Batson Rice and husband Sam, all of Travelers Rest; a son, Johnny Batson Davis of Travelers Rest; eight grandchildren, McKayla, LeAnn, Austin, Hannah, Haven, Britany, Logan and Grady; a brother, Reverend Larry Batson of Greenville; and a sister, Dorothy Epps of Greenville. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tabitha. Memorials may be made to Feed the Need Ministry, 103 Ravanell St, Greenville, SC 29611 or Reach 1 More Ministries, 117 Coxworth Ct., Travelers Rest, SC 29690. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 12 noon to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
