Joseph Andrew Padhaisky

Joseph Andrew Padhaisky, 81, of 30 Lisa Drive, husband of Carolyn Antonakos Padhaisky, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Biddeford, ME., he was the son of the late Andrew and Leona Laferriere Padhaisky. Mr. Padhaisky was retired from Hollingsworth Saco Lowell and was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. A Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps., Mr. Padhaisky served in the Second Marine Division. He was a Rifleman, Group leader, and Squad Leader. He participated in invasions of Saipan and Tinian Islands from June, 1944 ? September 1944 and Okinawa and Hiheyashima Islands invasion from April, 1945- July 1945. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne Padhaisky Thompson and her husband Michael of Greer; four grandchildren, Joey Thompson, Mary Carolyn Thompson, Kelly Leona Thompson, Mark Andrew Thompson; and two sisters, Mary Anne Rennie of Florida and Joan Lamirande and Saco, ME. Memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 111 Hampton Avenue, Greenville, SC 29601 or to Richard Campbell VA Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Noon at St. Mary?s Catholic Church.
