Joseph Michael Claire, 41, known as Joe to friends and family, passed from this life to be with the Lord, on August 9, 2007, in Mauldin, South Carolina. At his bedside was his dear wife, Lori Claire and their daughters, Kaylie Marie and Lyndi Michele. Joe courageously fought his battle with lung cancer. Joe, being the youngest child, was lovingly spoiled by six older siblings. Born to John and Mary Lou Fabiano Claire, Joe grew up in Ludington, Michigan, graduating from Ludington High School in 1984. After high school, Joe ran a successful landscaping business in Ludington and Grand Haven. Joe moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he met and married his sweetheart, Lori Krulcik. He was employed in 1999 by AAA Cooper Transportation in Pompano Beach, FL, later transferring with the company to Mauldin, SC in 2004. Joe spent many of his adult years in West Palm Beach, FL, raising his family and vacationing in Key Largo, FL, engaged in his favorite pastime of fishing for yellowtail, mahi mahi and wahoo along the Gulf Coast. All who knew him understood Joe?s passion for being on the water and fishing. Fortunate were those who tasted Joe?s catch fresh off the grill, as he was a favored cook in the family. Joe was the kindest gentlest soul who exuded warmth and humor to all blessed to know him. He is lovingly remembered for his wonderful laugh-out-loud stories and that ?twinkle in his eye? that made everyone smile. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle and son who enjoyed a fun-loving wrestle on the floor with his nephews and jet skiing with his nieces. His beautiful example of faith under adversity will never be forgotten as he ?fought the good fight and finished the race set before him?. The family of Joe Claire extends their grateful and heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at the Cancer Center of the Carolinas in Greenville and the staff of Open Arms Hospice. May God bless you for the tremendous care you gave to Joe and our family through this difficult time. Survivors include his precious wife, Lori; daughters, Kaylie and Lyndi; parents, John and Mary Lou Claire of Ludington, MI; two brothers, John Jeri Claire Jr. of Ludington, MI and James Nicki Claire of Scottville, MI; four sisters; Catherine David Loxen of Owosso, MI, Jacqueline Ove Olsson of Long Grove, IL, Nancy Mark Siljander of Great Falls, VA, Barbara James Carroll of Mundelein, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Joseph Claire be made to the American Cancer Society, the Cancer Center of the Carolinas or Open Arms Hospice in SC. A memorial service for Joseph Claire will be held at St. Simons Catholic Church in Ludington, MI, on Saturday, September 1, at 10:30 A.M.
