Joseph William Mays

July 14, 1940 - September 9, 2008
Joseph William Mays, Sr., 68, of 202 Foxfire Drive, husband of Pearl Juanita Crawford Mays, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at his residence. Born in Mintor, OH, he was a son of the late Clarence Odyell and Pauline Yard Mays. Mr. Mays was a retired maintenance supervisor and volunteer at Hillcrest Hospital and was a member of RWOC. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Teresa Patrick and her fiancé, Tim Spargo, of Greenville, Loretta Mays and her fiancé, Jeff Owens, of Belton, Juanita Wood and her husband, Brian, of Greenville; two sons, Joseph W. Mays, Jr. and his wife, Paige, of Simpsonville, Victor Lee Mays and his wife, Michelle, of Greenville; pride of his life nineteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his loving dog, Susie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Shawn Mays. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of The Carolinas, 706 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel. The family will be at the residence.
