Joyce Farnsworth Roper, 74, wife of Charles Lewis Roper, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at McCall Hospice House. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Henry and Olivia Southern Farnsworth. Mrs. Roper was a secretary with the Greenville County Register of Deeds and worked in the family business for 31 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Watching her children and grandchildren play sports gave her the most joy in life. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Roper and Rossie Wayne Meadows of Taylors; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Phillip and Kathrine Jervey Roper of Greenville, Stephen Lewis and Elizabeth Stall Roper of Greer; a sister, Doris Farnsworth Taylor of Greenville; a brother, William Farnsworth, Lt. Col. Retired, USAF of Mt. Pleasant; and six grandchildren, Alexandria and Jervey Roper, Brittany and Jeffrey Roper and Cameron and Hunter Meadows. Memorials may be made to the McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. The family will be at the home of her daughter, 8 Split Oak Court, Taylors.
