Katie Vaughn Tucker, widow of Luther Tucker, died peacefully Thursday, May 31, 2007. Born on June 1, 1924 in Greenville, SC., she was the daughter of the late Perry V. and Inez Jones Vaughn. Mrs. Tucker was retired from J.P. Stevens and was of the Baptist faith. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking and especially loved to share her cakes and pies with family and friends. Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Joye Tucker of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry David and Norma Tucker of Greenville; a very special grandson raised in the home, Michael Tucker; a sister, Irene V. Black of Greenville; nieces, Martha Vaughn, Judy McCauley, Peggy Jackson, Ruby Tumblin, Joan Smith and Nancy Manning; nephews, Dean Palmer and Terry Tumblin; a sister-in-law, Mary Vaughn of Hendersonville, N.C.; two special godchildren, Jannica Long and Jeremiah Lavoies both of Greer and special friends, Ellen Lavoies of Greer and Roger Pearson of Belton. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Palmer, Alice McCauley and Lina Tumblin and three brothers, Manly, Harold and Grady Vaughn. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 11 Brendan Way, B-2, Greenville, SC 29615. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park with visitation prior from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at their respective homes.
