In memory of the cherished life of Kim Melissa Thrift, a devoted wife, loving mother, and esteemed real estate professional, we regret to announce her passing on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 52.

Kim was a beacon of warmth and compassion to all who knew her. Even when arriving late, her presence could light up a room even and her kind spirit touched the hearts of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be forever treasured by her beloved husband of 27 years, Matthew Thrift; her precious daughters, Leighton Nicole and Ryleigh Elyse; her devoted mother, Gloria Prunea; and her beloved siblings, Lori Ann Sabino and Maurice Pruneau, Jr.

Kim’s first career was in the Aerospace industry prior to joining Matthew in Real Estate in 2019. Her passion for guiding others in finding their dream homes as a dedicated Realtor was evident to all who had the pleasure of working with her.

A Service of Worship honoring Kim’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Kingdom Life Church followed by a Drop In Reception until 1:30 p.m. at the C. Dan Joyner Corporate Office where friends can share fond memories of Kim and share condolences with her family.

To honor Kim’s life and her passion for women struggling with addiction, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miracle Hill-Renewal for Women, 19 Graves Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.

Kim’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, but her memory will forever remain in our hearts, a comforting reminder of the love and light she brought into our lives. May she rest in peace, knowing she was loved and respected by many.

I am so deeply sorry. My heart breaks for you all. I met Kim in 2015. Ryleigh and my son, Noah were in the same kindergarten class. They were each other's first boyfriend and girlfriend. Kim and I talked about how cute they were and she talked highly about Noah, which blessed my heart. She was always so sweet and kind evertime we talked at school events. Fast forward to 2018. We left a church we had been attending and felt really hurt. We felt impressed to try out Kingdom Life. I had forgotten that Kim had told me that's where she went. She saw us on Sunday and was happy to see us with her big smile and gave me a big hug. I was holding back tears because she was so comforting and kind. I was hurting and I felt like God gave me a big hug through Kim! Also, Matthew, you spoke one Sunday, and your honesty and vulnerability, really touched my heart and I thank you for that. We only attended a few months, but God used our time there to start healing. It's been years since then, but I want you to know that I'm thankful to have met Kim and your family. Sometimes we never know how we've impacted other people's lives. Kim definitely has impacted many people's lives. My heart and prayers are for you guys.

There are not appropriate words to describe the sadness in our hearts. To Mathew, Leighton, and Riley you’re in my prayers. For the Lord to give you strength and comfort to your hearts. We have had the wonderful pleasure of knowing Kim and the Thrift family for many years - from our time being neighbors in Bonnie Brae and having the kids trick-or-treat together to their time at Hillcrest Middle School all together. Matthew, Ryleigh, and Leighton, we wish you strength and peace in the days ahead. While words of sympathy feel inadequate at this time, we send you our love. I had the pleasure of getting to know Kim when she worked at Blue Aerospace. My employer was a customer of her’s. Family and faith were her biggest loves. My heart goes out to her family. I will miss you Kim.

She has been so warm and kind to me! I was new in town, new to the office trying hard to keep working and moving. Kim would always come up and put her hand on my back and would say you are doing great and every day it gets easier. I know you will do just fine…. It meant sooo much to me❤️ She took time out to comfort me, she was so warm hearted.

Kim, I love you so much girlie. I miss our talks. I miss our conversations. You were and are always so genuine and I loved that about you since the 1st time we met. You openly invited my family to church and you welcomed us with open arms. When I say I will miss you dearly, I mean that will all arms open. I love you Kim and may you rest in paradise!

Matthew, Ryleigh and Leighton, please know that many people are holding you up in prayers. I know you have many wonderful memories of this amazing woman! I met Kim back around 2007 when she worked with Blue Aerospace and I was a buyer for IMP Aerospace in Halifax, NS, Canada. I quickly learned how important family was to Kim and we would often compare daughter stories, mom bonding 💕. I loved her yearly visits to Canada and even after she left Blue Aerospace, we continued to keep in touch via texts, calls and social media, catching up on life events. Her passion for life and her love for her family was evident. I will dearly miss my friend and our chats. May God continue to hold this precious family in his hand to sustain them through this chapter. Thank you for your friendship Kim, I love you.

Kim always had a smile when I met her at real estate events. I never worked with her, but I know Matthew because I worked with him at brokerages and on committees. I know that pretty soon after they dismantled the nursery in their home, she got pregnant - after trying for so many years! And then it happened again! God truly works in His timeframe. My heart hurts for all your family, Matthew. May God hold you all in His huge loving arms forever.

I met Kim and Matt years ago at Mauldin Christian Academy. They were always so involved and loved by all. Kim loved her family and her friends. She showed Jesus in all that she did here. My heart hurts for Matt, the girls and her Mom. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. She was loved and will be missed.

Kim and I had worked together when I was onsite at Harrington community. She would sometimes bring me lunch. We would talk and laugh for hours. She was so incredibly thoughtful. She genuinely cared. I’ll never forget her.

Kim was a good friend and colleague who I met for the first time travelling to Australia for the Australian Aerospace show. At the time Kim worked for Lockheed and later joined Blue Aerospace. I worked closely with Kim since my office is in Montreal, Qc Canada and Kim was responsible for the Canadian account. Kim was a special person, full of life, love and happiness towards others and especially when she talked about her family, especially he children. Kim will be missed by all who knew her and I am one of them, rest in peace Kim

Kim was a wonderful person. She volunteered at the school during lunch and always was happy and had a smile on her face. I know her family and friends will miss her dearly. My deepest condolences to her family. God has gained another precious angel. God Bless!

I just recently met Kim when BMC put out a notice about my son, "Ian's Big Heart Event". She brought Leighton and her mom and dropped off donations for MUSC. We had texted some and I could tell from just her words how devoted she was to helping others in their time of need. And I just loved her Betty Boop shirt which brought to light the outgoing personality she had! I cannot imagine the devastation your family is experiencing with this tragic and sudden loss; but, I do know that she would want you to lean into God, into your friends, and to hold each other up when you don't think you can stand! Her legacy will continue in her beautiful girls and I am thankful that I was able to know her - if only for a brief time!

Kim, we have so many memories with you, especially from our houses on Birkhall. I had no idea when we looked at your house that it would be the start of a beautiful friendship of our families. That day, you and Matthew had “run out of time” doing yard work in the front yard. You two were putting out pine straw around that little tree in the front yard. When Jeane showed David and I the house, I knew it was the perfect home for us. I naively (being a very green 23 year old first time home buyer) came out and told you and Matthew, “I love your house! It’s beautiful!” 🤣🤣🤣 (and David and Jeane cringed) 🤣🤣 Three weeks later, we had our closing, and began life as next door neighbors. But you were more than a neighbor, Kim…You were my friend. From major life events… like becoming parents at the same time, birthday parties, to all the small things in between. I would love to know how many times we talked at the fence, or hung out on your patio with the whole crew. So many memories. My heart just aches for Matthew and the girls. Rest easy, Kim. It was a blessing having you as my friend.

Kevin and I were extremely sad when we heard the news. In the little amount of time we had known Kim she had made us feel welcome in SC and welcomed us to her home. She was the sweetest person I knew. I am thankful for knowing her. Thinking about Matt and the girls and her Mom.

I am so sorry for your loss. I truly have no words. Kim and I hadn’t spoke in some time and she reached out to me a while back and asked me to help her to help her friend Mariellen. I tried and I was too late! It does not surprise me at all that Kim was helping others and Mariellen , as that is all I have ever known of Kim. I recall the best Halloweens with Kim, Matthew , their beautiful girls Laughton and Ryleigh and the Fitzgeralds. I remember the times the girls would come to my house with Robin and all the wonderful things they had to say about their Mom! Christian, my son, grew up around the Thrift family and girls and the Fitzgeralds! memories I treasure even more now. I am a survivor of domestic violence and I speak out often and I have a film being made! I want to honor the wonderful life and memory of Kim. I am here for you all! as is Christian - and we will stay in touch and do what Kim would have done for me and anyone else- help, love and serve. all our love, light and prayers Tara and. Christian.
