Kimberly Amanda “Mandy” Weathers, 41, was called home on Wednesday March 13, 2024.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of Peg Knebusch Shaw and the late Thomas Weathers.

Mandy dedicated herself to caring for others, serving as a pillar of support at Springbrook Behavioral Health, where she provided comfort and assistance to those in need. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her boundless love for her nephew, Wyatt, whom she cherished dearly. Mandy’s relationship with Wyatt was profound; she loved him as her own son, creating countless treasured moments together within the family home.

In her leisure time, Mandy found joy in immersing herself in Medieval reenactments, where she could indulge her passion for history and tradition. Her love for her Irish and Scottish heritage was evident in her appreciation for their customs and folklore, enriching her life with their vibrant culture.

Green, the color of life and renewal, held a special place in Mandy’s heart, reflecting her zest for living. One of her favorite things was going to the movies to watch any genre of film, provided she had access to movie theater popcorn with extra, extra butter and a large diet Coke. Her intelligence illuminated most conversations, making them insightful and full of wisdom.

Above all, Mandy will be remembered for her boundless love, her giving spirit, and her nurturing nature. She was a one-of-a-kind individual who will be forever missed and never forgotten.

In addition to her loving mother, she is survived by her aunt, Suzi Knebusch; step-father, Scott Shaw; sisters, Tindle Shaw, Kelsey Weathers, and Shannon Lawless; nephew, Wyatt Shaw; brothers, Stonie Weathers and Jeremy Shaw; grandparents, Claudette Shaw and Dennis Maki; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Knebusch, Shaw, Upham, and Weathers families; and goddaughters, Gabbie Hounchell Key and Hailey Rhodes with their families; and numerous other beloved family members and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by sister, Cheyenne Shaw; grandparents, Fred and Ruth Knebusch, Fritz and Nell Brown, and Roy Shaw; and uncle, Mark R. Knebusch.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel.

I just found out about Mandy. My heart hurts. I met Mandy in Nursing school. In microbiology class I spilled live bacteria on her shoe….thus a beautiful friendship began. After my husband died, I withdrew from life and our friendship. Oh how I wish I had made better choices. We spoke in November2023…. We were supposed to have lunch but again life got in the way. I miss you and wish we could have that lunch

I met Mandy when she was in the first grade and I was in the second.Suzi Knebusch was my teacher but also my Girl Scout leader so it was our first meeting and she was the first one in the portable (classroom) and it was an instant bond. Mandy said to me we would be best friends forever but we became more like sisters. We shared many adventures,laughs,crys and Girl Scouts all the way through but most special of all we shared the birth of her miniature clone our daughter not just mine she was and will always be Mandy's daughter.I found myself with Mandy by my side with her intelligence and she stood up for me come what may she was always there with open arms. Mandy will always be remembered never forgotten and forever my sister she will be.

Dear Peg, Suzi and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of Mandy as a little girl. We all had so much fun together when she and our children were little. I was so proud of the woman she became. You all are in my prayers.

Our sweet, beautiful Mandy, I remember when she was born, how my Mom was so excited! My Mom was her grandmother and I am Mandy’s Aunt Mitzie! Mandy has always been a beautiful, sweet girl! She was a beautiful baby and grew into a beautiful young woman! Praying for her Mom Peggy, Stonie, Shannon and Kelsey! Also Susie who I know loved her very much! She will be Missed! Such a beautiful lady inside and out. I met Mandy when she was a little girl with Suzi and watched her grow up, I was not surprised that she went into nursing. She had such a giving heart always. Our loss is heartbreaking, but I know that we will see her again in heaven. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I’ve known Mandy since the 6th grade. She always had a zest for life and a huge heart for her friends. She will be so missed by everyone who knew her. The Blue Ridge community mourns the loss of a dear classmate. May you rest in peace sweet girl.

I worked with Suzi at Fork Shoals. While I never personally met Mandy, it's very evident through Suzi's words and pictures just how special she truly was. She made a big impact on those around her. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mandy's family during this difficult time.

Dear Suzi. Mandy was a sweet heart and I am so blessed to know I will meet her again in Heaven! I am praying for you to sense God's sustaining grace and peace in these hard days where you sorrow over the loss of her presence but rejoice that she is no longer suffering and is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
