Larry Daniel “Danny” Johnson, 73, beloved husband of Linda Johnson, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, left to cherish Danny’s memory are his son, Travis Johnson, and his wife, Laura; his daughter Jenna Hayes, and her husband, Justin; three granddaughters, Olivia Johnson, Marin and Hollis Hayes; a special sister-in-law, Brenda Grigsby; and two brothers, Gerry and Allan Johnson.

Danny was born in Hartsville, South Carolina and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Douglas and Paula Tolson Alewine.

A Private Gathering to celebrate Danny’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Commission for the Blind, 620 North Main Street, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29601.

Oh, Linda! Ron and I are so so saddened to learn of Danny's passing. What is even more painful is the suddenness of his death. Please know you and your family are in our prayers every day, for faith, strength and understanding. Love you! Barb

Linda, my heart breaks for you and your family. I remember when I first realized that I loved my husband more than anything in the world. I was over the moon with happiness. But also, I realized that by loving him, I had opened myself up to the greatest pain I would ever know. I remember crying to myself for a week, understanding what the vastness of my love for him some day would bring. Because some day…. we would part. It could be by divorce or either of us would die. It could be the next day or in fifty years. But, no matter how or when it happened, it would be inevitable and a pain that would engulf me. By loving him, I also had to face the hard truth which love brings. And you have come to that crossroads in your own life. You have lost the love of your life. You two were meant for each other and loved each other so much. It was a great love story and you got to live it. You were both so blessed to have found each other. But his death has left you with a loss that is vast, huge, and must be overwhelming. And I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you.

To all the family! Mr. Danny was such a sweet soul! I am grateful I got to know him and his family. Your family will be in my thoughts! Sending all my love!

Danny will be forever in our hearts. He was the big brother I never had. Always kind and fun loving. RIP Danny you will be so missed.
