Leona Mae Pretlove

February 12, 1921 - October 19, 2007
Leona Pretlove, 86, a woman who feared the Lord, entered into His presence on October 19, 2007 after a period of declining health. Born on February 12, 1921 to the late Nora C. and William F. McCoy in Onawa, Iowa, she grew up and excelled academically. After her salvation in 1940, she attended Bible school in Chicago, IL before serving for a term as a missionary in Congo Zaire, Africa. She graduated from Bob Jones University in 1953 and taught in the Greenville School System from 1952-1956. In 1956, she married the late Rev. Harold B. Pretlove of NJ. Returning to Greenville in 1972, Leona has faithfully served her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. Surviving are a son, David B. Pretlove; and two daughters, Janice Gardner and Barbara Mooney, along with their spouses and twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Sybil Stahl and Lydia Klein and their families; three sisters, Arlene Cross, Margie Abbott, and Kay L. Schulz; and two brothers, J. Elwon McCoy and James R. McCoy. She was preceded in death by a sister, three brothers, and an infant grandson, Timothy M. Gardner, Jr. Memorials may be made to Bob Jones University, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29614; Chosen People Ministries, 241 East 51st St., New York, NY 10022; or Faith Free Presbyterian Church, 1207 Haywood Rd., Greenville, SC 29615. The family will welcome friends on Monday, October 22, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Faith Free Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park.
