Lester Abbit Ross, Jr

Lester Abbit Ross, Jr., 76, of 24 Windemere Drive, husband of Ellendel ?Dell? Howard Ross, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at his residence. Born in Easley, he was the son of Ruth Simmons Ross and the late Lester A. Ross, Sr. Mr. Ross was retired from the Graphic Arts Department of WYFF-TV, was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the U.S. Army Band in France, attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL, and was ordained as a deacon at Augusta Heights Baptist Church and led the tape ministry. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 53 years and his mother, are a daughter, Tami Dailey of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Elaine Ross of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Valerie Ross Furman and her husband, Seth, Christina Ross, Chelsea Ross and Keith Dailey. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beverly Ross and two brothers, Bobby and Wallace Ross. Memorials may be made to Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 W. Earl Street, Greenville, SC 29609 or Interim Health Care Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301-9957. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Earle Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Easley. The family will be at the residence.
