Lewis Benjamin Sweatman, Jr

Lewis Benjamin Sweatman, Jr., 78, of 1304 Piedmont Hwy, died on Sunday, June 18, 2006. Born in Vance, he was a son of the late Lewis Benjamin Sweatman, Sr. and Edan Bacot Sweatman. Mr. Sweatman served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 7th Calvary and retired from Jeff Hunt/Blanchard after thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also a Mason, a lifetime member, and a former chaplin of Dunean Lodge #359. Surviving are his wife of over sixty years, Norma Nunn Sweatman, of the home; three daughters, Elaine Yeargin and husband Donald of Bedford, VA, Brenda Gregory and husband John of Piedmont, and Mary Ann Rampey and husband Jimmy of Six Mile; a son, Lewis Benjamin Sweatman III Benjie and wife Diane, of Westminster; a brother, Richard A. Sweatman, of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren, Donna Lynne Adams, Randy Rampey, Grayson Yeargin, Melina Trotter, Beth Gregory, Johnny S. Gregory, Ryan Sweatman, Cody Nucklos, and Cortni Nucklos; and six great-grandchildren, Rebecca Morey, Ian Morey, John Morey, Naomi Trotter, Elaina Rampey, and Noah Gregory. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 ? 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon at West Gantt First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to West Gantt First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1452 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29605. The family is at the residence.
