Linda I. Childers

Linda I. "Cookie" Childers, 67, of Greenville, went home to be with her Lord Friday, May 30, 2008. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Alvin Childers and Gertrude Elizabeth Bishop Childers. Ms. Childers was employed by Bethel Baptist Church for thirty-five years where she was also a member and very active in the Single Branches Sunday School Class. Surviving are two brothers, Sam H. Childers and wife Susan, and Jack L. Childers and wife Patricia B.; four nieces, Terri Hawkins, Karen Spearman, Anne Marie and Jennifer Childers; four nephews, Todd Childers and wife Rose, Jonathan Childers and wife Anita, Adam and Benjamin Childers; great nieces and nephews, Courtney Davis, Samantha, Isabella, Anna, and Isaac Childers; and a great great nephew, Alexander Logan. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred C. Spearman; and a great nephew, Brandon Lee Childers. Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 403 Sulphur Springs Road, Greenville, SC 29617. The family is at the home of brother Sam Childers, 136 Edinburgh Lane, Easley.
