Linda Williams Rogier, of Greenville, South Carolina, aged 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Linda was born in Dorothy, West Virginia, on September 13, 1939, to Robert and Dassie Williams. She graduated from Morris Harvey College (now College of Charleston) in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and from Bob Jones University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Pedagogy. She married the love of her life, George Rogier, on June 17, 1961. After residing in Atlanta, Georgia for five years, they settled in Greenville in 1966. Linda dedicated thirty-eight years to Bob Jones University, teaching elementary school piano and leading the children’s piano program at Bob Jones Elementary School. She also mentored interns in the Bob Jones University Piano Pedagogy major. She retired from Bob Jones University in 2004. Linda was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church for over forty years. One of her greatest enjoyments was playing the piano for church services.

Linda is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-three years, George; her daughter, Michelle Shuman (Keith) of Greenville; her sons, Larry (Janet) of Romulus, Michigan, and Robert (Micah) of Morrisville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laran, Elyse, and Brysen Rogier of Romulus, Michigan. Additionally, she leaves behind her nieces, Sherry White of Huntington, West Virginia, and Beth Wiebe of Hooker, Oklahoma; along with her brothers-in-law, Michael Rogier of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, and Patrick Rogier of Rand, West Virginia. Linda is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews from her husband’s side; and a host of cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lois White of Huntington, West Virginia; and her brother-in-law, Doug Rogier of Greenville, South Carolina.

The family extends gratitude to Linda’s numerous doctors and nurses over the years, as well as the doctors and staff of the Bon Secours Downtown location for their compassionate care during her final days.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The funeral service will take place on Monday, April 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church followed by burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

So sorry we couldn't be there for the memorial service as we're out of state. We are watching the livestream. We have appreciated Linda's testimony and service to the Lord over the years. George and Linda were our first adult Sunday School teachers as young marrieds at Morningside. Our prayers and love for George and the rest of the family during this time of loss.

My heart breaks for the family. What a splendid example of the joy of the Lord Linda Willams Rogier was! I am so blessed to have known her and George. Linda and George have been long-time friends of my parents from Dad’s BJU days. When I was at BJU, Linda invited me to come have dinner with the family sometimes and I would also spend some time baking Christmas cookies and decorating the Christmas tree for them. I babysat Robert sometimes. It was a blast to have a faculty house back-campus to relax and do “homey” things. George was the sound engineer and bus driver for our TV Choir tours around the country. There are so many memories flooding back. Such dear people! I can’t imagine the sadness of losing one’s lifetime mate. George, Michele, Larry, Robert: you are in my daily prayers. I have fond memories of visits to Linda and George’s home whenever our family was in town. I always enjoyed the time of fellowship between our families. The Rogiers have been dear friends over these many years. Linda reached out and asked about my parents from time to time via social media. She faithfully prayed with us through David’s battle with cancer and has been an encouragement to me. Heaven has gained a gem. My deepest condolences to the Rogier family.

I knew Linda and her family when we were children in Packsville, WV. All of them were wonderful people. My sincere condolences to her husband and family.

Linda and George are two of the most gracious people I have ever met. And who can ever forget Linda's aficiónate, infectious smile?! After Micah, my daughter, enroll at Bob Jones and started to date Robert, she began to have health issues. Linda opened her heart and her home and became a segregate mother. After the couple married, Linda and George proved to be wise and loving in-laws. Now, in Linda's earthly absence, may God comfort George, the family, and the many lives she enriched.
