Lori Lee Fay

Lori Lee Fay, who was lovingly known as the “Miracle Girl” by those close to her, passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 57. Lori had been bravely fighting cancer for 20 years, and even when doctors didn’t think she would make it past 2015, she proved them wrong and God performed a miracle to keep her on earth another 8 years beyond that medical diagnosis. Her life was a beautiful example of living with purpose and joy, dedicating each day to serving and loving others, guided by her strong faith.

Lori grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, Jim and Nancy Pope, and her brother, Barry. From a young age, her kind heart and caring nature were clear to everyone around her. Lori graduated from Western Maryland College, where she prepared for a life of helping others.

She started her career as a 4th-grade teacher, touching the lives of her students in ways they would never forget. Prior to starting her teaching career she taught at Maryland School for the Deaf, using her skills in sign language to make a difference. She also used her sign language skills at her local church, helping to connect the deaf community in teaching and worship.

Lori shared a wonderful life with her husband, Jerry Fay. Together, they worked in the family’s home building business and took part in missionary work in Kenya and Rwanda, teaching and empowering community leaders.

Her faith was a huge part of her life. Lori played a key role at Grace Church as both a volunteer and part-time staff member, helping to open a new campus that brought the community together. She was especially passionate about mentoring young mothers, sharing her wisdom and kindness with many.

Lori’s legacy is one of love, faith, and service. She leaves behind her husband, Jerry; their children, Ella and husband Hayes, Kyra and husband Carl, and Brady; her parents, Jim and Nancy; her brother, Barry, and his wife, Colleen; and her niece and nephew, Kelsie and Kyle, as well as countless others whose lives she touched.

Her love for her family and zest for life shining through in everything she did. While we will miss her deeply, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. In her memory, donations to Isaiah 117 are welcomed, reflecting her commitment to serving her local community and those in need.

Lori’s earthly journey may have ended, but the impact of her love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she reached.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church Pelham Campus Grace Church, 2801 Pelham Road, Greenville SC 29615.
