Lorraine Steiner Kaplan

Lorraine Steiner Kaplan, 64, died Thursday, October 9, 2008. Born in the Bronx, New York City, NY, she was the daughter of Anna W. Mucha Steiner and the late Alexander M. Steiner. Mrs. Kaplan was a teacher at Mauldin Elementary School and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She earned a BA in Education from the City University of New York and a Masters degree from Furman University. Lorraine was a sweet and kind individual who loved children, animals, and her family. A teacher who touched the lives of countless children and will live on in the lessons and examples she taught and demonstrated to them. She loved to read and view old classic movies. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a daughter, Stacey Kaplan; a sister, Barbara Catania and husband Joseph; a niece Rosemarie Kneis; and a nephew Paul Catania. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605. A Vigil will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 5 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with visitation following until 8 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 11:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Wood Memorial Park.
