Louel Reid Vassey

January 25, 1935 - January 21, 2008
Louel Reid Vassey, 72, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with Jesus on January 21, 2008. He is survived by his precious wife of 52 years, Grace James Vassey.
Born in Chesnee, he was the son of the late Louel Phillip and Virginia Lee Vassey. He was a faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church and the Tal Garrett Sunday School class where he spent many years in dedicated service to his Lord, in particular through the intercessory prayer team and visitation programs. He was also a dedicated member of the Greenville Gideons West Camp.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Murray Waynick of Greer and Connie Vassey of Greenville; three granddaughters, Shannon Sharp and her husband Scott, Lori Page and her fiance', Jeffrey Lawson, both of Greer and Selena Mason of Columbia; one great-grandson, Bradley Sharp, and three great-granddaughters, Kathryn Sharp, Morgan Mason and Gabrielle Mason; a brother, Phillip Ray Vassey and wife, Anne, of Six Mile.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 1:30 pm at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West.
