Louie Broughton Lister, 90, beloved husband and father went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2006 after a brief illness. Born in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Elmina Masters Lister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lister was retired from Burlington Industries, F.W. Poe Mfg. Co. He was an avid sports fan and played numerous years in the textile baseball league. Surviving is his wife, Frances Cooper Lister; a daughter, Patricia Pat Christian, and her husband John; a son, Kenneth Crowell Lister, and his wife Lynn; a daughter in law, Carol Dunn Lister Murray, and her husband Don; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Lister and Lucille L. Hicks, and Lucille?s husband Jack; and a sister-in-law, Naomi Lister. He was predeceased by a son, Billy Daniel Danny Lister, four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Lister was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Monday, March 27, at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with Committal at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 255 W. Mountain Creek Church Rd., Greenville, S.C. The family will be at the home of John and Pat Christian, 28 Taunya Lane, Travelers Rest, S.C. 29690. Memorials may be made to the Mountain Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 255 W. Mountain Creek Rd., Greenville, S.C. 29609, or to Lutheran Hospice, 218A Trade St., Greer, S.C. 29651. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Lutheran Hospice for their support and compassion during the bereavement of their Dad.
