Louise Marie Shimmin Gutzman

Louise Marie Shimmin Gutzman, 81, of 111 Kendrick St., Greer died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Newport, Oregon, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Burgess and the widow of Lewis Gutzman. Louise and Lewis were married at Fort Lewis, Washington on August 7, 1940 and traveled the world as Lewis was an Air Force Master Sergeant in charge of flight line maintenance. After retiring, they settled in Albany, Oregon and finished raising their family while Lewis worked for the Bureau of Mines. Louise was a housewife. Mrs. Gutzman moved to South Carolina to be with her two daughters in 2001. She was an ACBL Life Master and enjoyed her weekly duplicate bridge club as well as sewing, quilting, and playing on the computer. Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Lehman and husband Don of Post Falls, Idaho, Ruth Shuck and husband Bill of Greenville, and Stephanie Gutzman of Greer; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis ?Sonny? Gutzman, II. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 2:30pm at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany, Oregon, conducted by Aasum Funeral Home Autumn Chapel, 805 Ellsworth St., S.W., Albany, Oregon 97321.
