Lt. Col. Grady W. Burgin, 94, of 111 Tar Blvd., widower of Irma Allen Burgin, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Old Fort, NC, he was the son of the late William H. and Mamie Alice Byrd Burgin. Col. Burgin was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Eastlan Baptist Church. He was a career veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are two daughters, Kristin McDonald of Bennington, VT, Bonnie Bayley of Charleston, SC; a son, Grady William Burgin of Quaker Gap, NC; two stepsons, Craig and Clark Brittain of Greenville, SC; eleven grandchildren and two special great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Virginia Brittain Burgin. Memorials may made to Eastlan Baptist Church, 625 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, 29607 Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence.
