Lucy B. McCraw Mahon, 87, of Easley, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Born in Simpsonville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Thackston Barbrey.
Lucy was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley, South Carolina. She was a true southern woman, with a quiet strength and a pure elegance that radiated. Lucy enjoyed music and was a gifted pianist who found joy in sharing her talent by playing for numerous churches. When she had the opportunity, she liked to garden and watch birds.
Lucy adored her family; she treasured every moment from growing up with her siblings to raising her own family. She was an excellent cook and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family and loved ones. Lucy relished any time spent with her precious family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they referred to her as Grandmama.
She was a woman of great grace and much wisdom with abounding love for precious family. Lucy loved the Lord, her church and her family. Her loving spirit and kind heart will forever be missed but her legacy and memory will continue through each member of her family.
She is survived by her son, Deaver “Dee” McCraw,III (Ruthie); daughter, Dawn Stoudemayer (Tully); eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Adeline Savage; sisters-in-law, Ruth Barbrey and Shell McCraw; brother-in-law, Lee Ruef; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends; and her beloved Sunday School Class, The Joy Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Deaver McCraw, Jr.; second husband, Marion Mahon; son, Tommy McCraw; brothers, Bob Barbrey (Faye), Jerry Barbrey and David Barbrey (Lynette); a sister, Mary Armstrong (Jack); a sister-in-law, Mary Ruef; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Savage and Joe McCraw.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Easley, with a visitation to follow. A private entombment will be held in Cannon Memorial Park.
