On the morning of April 17, 2021, the angels welcomed our precious daughter, Lucy Marie Spence, to the kingdom of Heaven. She flew up to Heaven like a beautiful butterfly free from its cocoon.
We weep for the cries and smiles, steps and jumps, songs and rhymes, wins and losses, journeys and tomorrows that will never come. We love you to the moon and back, and we will never forget you.
Lucy is forever carried in the hearts of her loving parents, Ashley and Jake Spence; her paternal grandparents, Scott and Jody Spence; maternal grandparents, Janice and Craig Mattoch; aunts, Beth Spence, and Courtney Howes and husband, Brandon Howes; uncle, Jack Spence; paternal great-grandparents, Lois Rita Spence, and Joseph and Sandy Pye; great aunt, Jyll Caudell; and cousins, Kodie Caudell, Clay Caudell, and Mike Hillis.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, officiated by Father William S. Hearne. Masks are required in all Thomas McAfee Funeral Home locations and attendees are strongly encouraged to follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.
It is said that butterflies were given an extra set of wings so that Angels could ride on their back. When you see this winged beauty, it’s a reminder that an Angel from Heaven is visiting you.
