Luise “Liesel” Page, born June 7, 1926 in Karlsruhe, Germany, died April 6, 2022 at Kempton of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Greenville native M.Sgt. McDuff Whitlow Page, her parents, Adolf and Lina Stutz, and her three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her son Rodney Page and his wife Sugah of Gastonia NC, her daughter Doris Page of Fairfax VA, and nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany.
Mrs. Page moved to the U.S. after marrying in 1948; she became a U.S. citizen in 1954. As an Army wife, she lived in various locations in the U.S and Germany, then settled permanently in Greenville after her husband’s death in 1969. She was a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, and reader, and an extraordinary cook of both Southern and German cuisine. She always enjoyed the company and conversation of family and friends and was a devoted grandmother to a number of granddogs. She was a survivor of the devastation of WWII and a passionate and informed American citizen who cared deeply about the U.S.
The funeral service will be graveside Monday April 11, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville. The Reverend Don Costlow will officiate. Visitation will be held graveside immediately following the service.
