Margaret Ellen Terry, 86, of 219 Boothbay Court, wife of Percy Terry, Jr. died Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born in Gladwin, Michigan, on October 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hattie Mett Schroeder. She was married to Mr. Terry on December 1, 1945, in Lincoln Park, Michigan. One son, Kim Woodall Terry, predeceased her in April 2006. Two brothers, Alfred Schroeder and Harold Schroeder, are also deceased. Mrs. Terry graduated in 1941 from the Walsh Institute of Accountancy in Detroit, Michigan, with a degree in Business Administration. She then became a charter member of the American Society of Women Accountants. She was employed by Springfield Detail and Machine Parts. While living in Dearborn, Michigan, she was active in the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, serving as Vice-President, Treasurer, and President. She was also Treasurer of the League of Women Voters of Michigan and worked during that time for a new Michigan state constitution. Mrs. Terry was also a member of the Dearborn Garden Club and Western Country Club. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dearborn. After moving to South Carolina in 1978 Mrs. Terry became a realtor with the C. Dan Joyner firm and continued her interest in the League of Women Voters by becoming Treasurer of the Greenville County chapter for several years. After heart surgery she was involved with many other heart patients in the letter writing campaign to urge Greenville Memorial Hospital to build what is now the Life Center Health and Conditioning Club. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, and in recent years Messiah Lutheran Church where she was on the endowment committee. Mrs. Terry was also a member of Holly Tree Golf and Country Club in Simpsonville. On Friday, February 22, 2008, the family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mauldin, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. At a later date Mrs. Terry will be laid to rest in Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
