Margaret Leslie Youman Hughes

January 24, 1926 - June 18, 2008
Margaret Youman Hughes, 82, wife of William H. Hughes, 24 Lanneau Drive, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Born in Miami, FL, she was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. Chaplain, U. S. Army George L. Youman and Ruth Kastenhuber Youman. A loving wife and mother, Mrs. Hughes was involved in many activities outside the home. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Greenville, and formerly served as director of the kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are stepmother Elizabeth Youman of Augusta, GA; daughter H. Katherine Hughes O'Neill and husband George of Fargo, ND; son William H. Hughes, Jr. and wife Dana of Atlanta, son Ed L. Hughes of Greenville; grandchildren, Michael S. O'Neill and wife Brandy, William H. Hughes III, John S. Hughes, Rosalyn J. Youman Hughes; sisters, Janet Bodo of Kentucky, Dora Chenault of California, and Alene Berry of Nevada; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by infant daughter Leslie Anne Hughes. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church Greenville, 847 Cleveland St., Greenville, SC 29601. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Greenville on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
