Marian Evelyn Anderson

Marian Evelyn Anderson, 96, loving and devoted wife of the late Frank Anderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Born in Greenville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Ethel Collier Barnes.

Mrs. Anderson was an active member of Berea First Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to her Sunday School Class and serving the Lord. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, “Mama A”, aunt, cousin, and friend. Marian loved to travel and would just get in the car and go. Her grandsons would be her navigators and read the map to take them on their adventures, whether it be to the mountains or the beach. She enjoyed her trips to Maggie Valley, Cherokee, Gatlinburg, and Charleston. Marian was famous for her fried okra, potato salad, and mac and cheese. "Bad cornbread makes a good dressing" and boy could she make the best! If given, "Best Cook Ever," would have been a title she truly earned.

Her memory lives on with her loving son, Terry Anderson and his wife, Donna; her beloved sister, Bobbie Hunter and husband, Cordell; one beloved daughter-in-law, Elaine Anderson; five adoring grandchildren, Shannon Anderson Powell and her husband Jay, David Brent Anderson and his wife Melissa, Christopher Anderson and his fiancee' Michelle, Eric Anderson and his wife Lisa, and Melissa Rhiannon Owens; great-grandchildren, Evan Anderson, Frank Anderson, Stacie Anderson, Kayrah Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Caitlin Rose, Anthony Evett, Alli Nelson and her husband Wyatt, and Zachary Westfall.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband of 45 years, Marian was preceded in death by her son, Donald Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Anderson; grandson, Travis Owens; sisters, Mildred Barnes and Frances Long; brothers, Charles Barnes, Thomas Bryan "Jr." Barnes, and Bill Barnes; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca Barnes, Carolyn Barnes, and Mary Barnes; and brother-in-law, Claude Long.

Although no formal visitation will be held, friends are welcome to come and leave notes of condolence on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, and again from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery West. The family has requested those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on Social Distancing and Wearing a Mask.
