On the 11th of March, 2024, Marie Seay peacefully passed away from natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. She was born on November 15, 1947, and was the wife of the late Joseph Daniel Seay, Jr.

Marie retired as a beloved K4 and K5 Assistant Teacher at Robert E. Cashion Elementary School where she touched the lives of many young children with her kindness and dedication. Following a debilitating stroke, she took on the role of caregiver, devoting herself to caring for her husband for many years. Marie was member of Mauldin First Baptist Church.

Left to cherish Marie’s memory are her daughter, Heather Roughton (Chris); her son, Mark Seay (Lynn); as well as her grandchildren, Brooke Seay, Carley Seay, Jude Roughton; and great-grandchild, Sebastian Seay.

A visitation will take place at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Mauldin First Baptist Church on Monday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m. where friends, family, and community members will come together to honor and celebrate her life. Lastly, Marie will be laid to rest by her beloved husband in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

I was So Saddened to read the news (too late) of Marie. I missed the opportunity to attend the visitation as I just now learned of her service yesterday. Marie never let me forget that “I” (as a toddler) wanted to marry Danny (as I knew him) . I grew up in the Forrestville community where Preacher Joe was my first pastor. Many years later I got to see the family again as they visited their dentist office. Marie (and Danny) were always the sweetest people to “run into” and talk to. I left those conversations with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Prayers to the family as you all find new paths (with the memories guiding your way). Remember- we leave twice, once when our body stops and the second is when we stop talking of our love ones, so talk, talk , talk about them to the ones left here.
