Martha Ann Bates Mace, 70, of Stone Meadow Road, died June 29, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Lewie L. and Annie Rodgers Bates and the widow of Max E. Mace. Before her retirement, she was employed with AARO Rents. Mrs. Mace was a member of Pebble Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Mace Middlebrooks and her husband, Matthew, of Charlotte; a son, Jeff Mace and his wife, Cynthia, of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Elyse Middlebrooks and Emily Allison Mace; a brother, Lewie L. Bates, Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Greenville. Memorials may be made to Pebble Creek Baptist Church, 1300 Reid School Road, Taylors, SC 29687.
