Martha Louise Davis Jones

Martha Louise Davis Jones, 80, widow of Jack W. Jones, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at Magnolia Place of Greenville. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Edward W. and Martha Ellen Lockaby Davis. She was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church. Having been the widow of a World War II Veteran, she actively supported Veteran Affairs and contributed timeless effort in establishing the Veteran?s Monument and Wall of Remembrance located at Greenville County Square. She was presented a plaque of ?Special Recognition? by the Greenville County Joint SC Veterans Planning Committee for unselfish contributions by Mr. George Blevins, Director of Greenville County Veteran Affairs. She was a member of the Greenville County Sheriff?s Association and contributed her services to the election of the late Sheriff Sam Simmons and incumbent Sheriff Steve Loftis. She was a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. Surviving are daughters, Patricia Kay Jones and Joyce Jones Kirby both of Greenville; three grandchildren, Laura Ann Whitley of York, SC, Thomas Frederick DiPuma, Jr. of Jasper, GA, Jill Campbell Scheper of Beaufort; and nine great grandchildren. Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 218 Trade Street, Greer, SC 29651 or Augusta Road Baptist Church, 1823 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Patricia Jones, 1001 Harness Trail, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
