Marvin “Mel” K. Falletta, 86, husband of the late Patty Falletta, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Mel was a member of the Church of Christ – attended all of them in the Upstate of SC. In his spare time, he read and studied the Bible every day, enjoyed sharing his life stories including his military years to those who listened. He had a passion of meeting people and making them smile.

He served in the United States Navy for 28 years and retired as a Master Chief, taught JROTC for two high schools in the Upstate, and found various side maintenance jobs to fill his time until he fully retired to enjoy his golden years.

He is survived by his daughters, Terry F. Thacker of Pensacola, FL, Lisa Barber of Greer, SC, and Gina Russian (Dan) of Simpsonville, SC; five grandchildren, Nicholas Russian, Brooklyn Barber, Sean Thacker (Mandy), Alicia Morris (Jeremy) and Jacob Thacker; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.

Master chief you will be so missed by so many people. It was a honor to serve under you and commander Pigeon at Parker high school. I will never forget the stories, the laughs , and the great instructions for learning you shared . God bless you ol friend.

Oh Mel, there are no words. You never met a stranger. You always had a story to tell and a smile on your face, (and a TT hug just for me) I know you are up there with Patty now dancing them streets of Gold! Y’all enjoy!
