Mary Cathleen Bishop

Mary Cathleen Bishop, 93, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Born and raised in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Mann Helton.

Mary found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in tending to her yard and reveling in the beauty of the outdoors. A testament to her entrepreneurial spirit, she once earned a pink car through her successful endeavors as a Mary Kay cosmetics saleswoman.

Mary’s memory will be forever treasured by her family and friends, who will fondly remember her as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Jane (Kandi) Williamson, Judy Louise Kasper (Mike), Debra Ann Suttles (David), and Barbara Elaine Hart; grandchildren, Christy Collins (Chris), Kimmie Reed (Bud), Joshua Williamson, Misty McCarthy, Wendy Wilson (Ed), Kelly Kasper (Kathey), Jason Kasper (Paula), and David Suttles, II; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Peggy McCarson and Carolyn “Boots” Simmons.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Pines Assisted Living for the love and care they showed our dear mother and deep gratitude to Jennifer and the affectionate staff at Pathway Hospice.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Cox; brother, Dennis Helton; and son-in-laws, Don Williamson and Tommy Hart.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
