Mary Jane Harrington Pitts

Mary Jane Harrington Pitts, 78, wife of Dr. John Hershel Pitts, Ph.D. died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Oakmont East Nursing Center. Born in Tunnelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy James and Dorothy Madeline Goff Harrington. Mrs. Pitts was a homemaker and member of Beth Haven Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Rhonda Pitts and her partner, Charles Ables, of Hickory Tavern, SC; two sons, Alex Pitts and his wife, Carolyn, of Estill Springs, TN, Joe Pitts of Simpsonville; five grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Bill Harrington. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601 or American Diabetes Association of Greenville, 16-A Brozzini Court, Greenville, SC 29615. Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Beth Haven Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
