Mary Liner Gilchrist, 73, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Wilson Liner, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022.

Born in Greenville, SC, Mary attended Wade Hampton High School. Upon graduating she attended The University of South Carolina, where she majored in Education with a minor in Spanish. During her time there, Mary was a proud member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She enjoyed a career in the Greenville County School System, where she taught Spanish.

Mary was a life-long member of White Oak Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was passionate about her faith and loved the years she spent teaching the youth in Sunday School.

She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Grunewald; her nephew, Joseph Grunewald; and many cousins.

Friends and family of Mary are invited to a gathering that will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Joni Thomas, 325 East Hillcrest Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.

I was saddened to learn of Mary's passing. We were childhood friends and I have fond memories of visiting and playing with her and her sister Libby in the 1950's and early 60's. Her parents , Leonard & Dot are also fondly remembered. We lived in the same neighborhood in Greenville city , Vista Hills' and we still live there. My sincere condolences to Libby and family, Mary will be missed.
