Mary Louise Cotter

Mary Louise Evans Cotter, 82, of 303 Golf View Lane, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2006. Born in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas L. and J. Maude Butler Evans and wife of the late Robert Richard Cotter. Mrs. Cotter graduated from Lower Marion High School and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of Circle of Grace Lutheran Church in Gaffney, SC. Surviving are a daughter, Karen B. Roughton and husband Bill, of Greenville; a son, Robert W. Cotter and wife Donna, of Greer; four grandchildren, Bobby Cotter and fiance Linda Volman, Thomas Cotter, Jayson Bocook, and Chris Roughton and fiance Heather Seay; four brothers, Dr. Robert Evans and wife JoAnn, David Evans and wife Nancy, Chuck Evans and wife Nancy, and Dr. Tom Evans and wife Tink; a sister, Betty Southgate; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Woodward; and extended family, Jeff Norman, Luther Sherman, and Thomas Khoe. She is predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Marshall Evans; a sister, Peggy Evans Woodward; a brother-in-law, Jack Southgate; and a sister-in-law, Winnie Evans. As a talented muscian, Mary Lou devoted her life to the world of music and her children. She walked side by side with her beloved husband during his long teaching career which culminated in Florida with the Largo Band of Gold. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Inurnment will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC next to her loving husband. Flowers accepted however, memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Band Alumni, 4 Halbrook Drive, Taylors, SC 29687. The family is at the residence.
