Mary Louise Shults

November 26, 1922 - June 15, 2008
Mary Louise Elkins Shults, 85, of 136 W. Seven Oaks Drive, widow of John R. Shults, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her residence. Born in Harriman, TN, she was the only child of the late James Arthur and Bertha Mae Ivey Elkins. Mrs. Shults was a graduate of Carson Newman College, a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Greenville. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Linda Shults of Greenville, Martha Jane Popp of Brentwood, TN; a son, John Russell, Jr. and his wife, Martha, of Isle of Palms, SC; three grandchildren, Lauren Bryce Popp, Robert Kyle Popp and John Thomas Shults. Memorials may be made to Carson Newman College, PO Box 557, Jefferson City, TN 37760 or Greenville County Cancer Society, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Memorial Cemetery, Newport, TN with the Reverend Dr. Calvin Metcalf officiating. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Vickie Butler of Carson Newman College for her special friendship and assistance. Also, the family is grateful to Southern Care Hospice for their care of Mary Louise.
