Mary Ruth Payne

Mary Ruth Fowler Payne, 89, of 302 Azalea Court, widow of Ralph Ludie Payne, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at her residence. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Robert Fred and Reba Esther Allison Fowler. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and member of Hampton Park Baptist Church. Surviving are seven children, Ralph L Payne, of Greenville, Leora Payne Ulloa of Maryland, James Payne of Iva, David Payne of Anderson, Elizabeth Payne Harbin of Anderson, Jonathan Payne of Taylors, and Martha Payne Roberts of Michigan; twenty- three grandchildren; forty- nine great grandchildren two sisters, Dorothy Wentzky of Anderson and Earline Simpson of Anderson; a sister-in-law, Dot Chambers Fowler of Anderson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fred Fowler, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Bob Jones University for the Ruth Payne Memorial Fund, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29614. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 12 to 1:15 p.m. at Hampton Park Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson. The family will be at their respective homes.
