Mary S. Allen, 79, of 24 Long Forest Drive, widow of Freeman Yancey Allen, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Thompson and Lula Mae Bell Sprouse. Mrs. Allen was retired from Piedmont Industries and was a member of Rutherford Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the sanctuary choir and was a former Sunday School teacher. Surviving, are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tony Goodwin of Greenville; a son, Tommy W. Allen of Greenville; three grandchildren, Christopher Garland of Pelzer, Jennifer Bennett and her husband Matt of Greenville, Kimberly Kahler and her husband Todd of Easley; seven great grandchildren, Alexis Garland, Lindsey, Taylor, and Madison Bennett, Emily, Zachary, and Austin Kahler; and a sister, Ruby Best of Greenville. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Freeman Allen, a brother and three sisters. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 3:00 pm in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
