Mary Young Johnson, 79, of Oakmont East Living Center, formerly of Cammer Ave., died Friday, March 16, 2007. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Seay Young, and widow of James Harry Johnson. A beloved mother and grandmother, she was retired as district manager with World Book Encyclopedia. After her retirement, she was a receptionist at General Electric. She was a member of Sanctuary Church, formerly Fair Heights Baptist Church, and was member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Surviving are her sons and their wives, The Reverend H. Stan Johnson and Stephanie, Dr. Walter E. Johnson and Deanna all of Travelers Rest, J. Kenneth Johnson and Ann of Waleska, GA; a sister, Lula Mae Looney of Seneca; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Mark, Ashley, Jacob, Kristy Johnson, and Cassie Field; and one great grandchild, Lacey Field. A son, Ted Johnson, predeceased her in 1977. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Ministry Scholarship Fund at North Greenville Univeristy, P. O. Box 1892, Tigerville, SC 29688. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Sanctuary Church with visitation prior to the service at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
