Maxwell Landrum Poole

Maxwell Landrum "M.L." Poole, 97, of 9 Long Forest Drive, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2008, two days before his 98th birthday. He was the husband of Isabelle Ables Poole. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late John Edward and Ivory Rice Poole. Mr. Poole was a graduate of North Greenville Academy. He was retired from the Greenville County School District and formerly worked at Thackston Chevrolet and Carolina Blouse. He was a charter member of Buncombe Road Baptist Church, where he was in the Men's Bible class. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter-in-law, Barbara Poole of Houston, TX; three grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Poole Poston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Maxwell and Dale Poole; three sisters, Ollie Ledbetter, Ruth Coggins and Elizabeth Tatum; and two brothers, J.E. and Carlos Poole. Memorials may be made to Buncombe Road Baptist Church, 111 Courtney Circle, Greenville, SC 29617. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home.
