Melvin M. Redding

Melvin M. Redding, 67, of 305 W. Caroline Street, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 04, 2005. Born in Greenville he was a son of the late J.K. and Ora Swan Redding. Mr. Redding worked for Daniel and Yeargin Construction Co. He also owned his own paint and body shop. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Redding, of the home; a daughter, Diane Phillips and her husband Jerry, of Greenville; four sons, Allen and his wife Ashley, Jason, Chris and his wife Mary Kay, and Michael Redding, all of Greenville; four grandchildren, four brothers, and five sisters. He was a foster parent to many children and loved by all who knew him. Mr. Redding is predeceased by two sisters. The family will receive friends at the residence where Mr. Redding will lie in state. Services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, West. The family is at the residence.
