Miles Carter Gregory

Miles Carter Gregory, 84, of 710 Bonanza Circle, died May 15, 2008. Born on March 9, 1924 in Jefferson County Alabama, he was the son of Joseph A. and Lela Mae Cambron Gregory. Mr. Gregory retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Gregory; a son, Norman S. Garrison and his wife, Melba, of Easley; two daughters, Margie B. Holmes and her husband, Ted, of Easley, Kathy G. Elrod and her husband, Randy, of Piedmont; two stepdaughters, Donna Farrow of Greenville, Kelly Irvin and her husband, Steve, of Easley; a stepson, Mac Farrow and his wife, Beth, of Easley; seven grandchildren, Melinda Garrison, Jeff Garrison, Melanie Elrod, Catherine Vargo, Brian Holmes, Jennifer Elrod, and Brent Elrod; thirteen great grandchildren, Mark and Matthew Garrison, Jacob and Anna Cate Garrison, Graham and Hope Harvard, Cely and Sarah Elrod, Maegan, Kyle and Kaycee Vargo, Jonathan and Kaitlyn Holmes; four step grandchildren; Robin Irvin, Ryan Irvin, Josh Farrow and Andy Farrow; and one step great grandchild, Kaleigh Farrow. Mr. Gregory was predeceased by his loving first wife of forty-two years, Ruth Catherine Simmons Gregory; four sisters, Iris McConnell, Dorothy Buntyn, Tommie Scogin and Arlene Gregory; a brother, Robert Gregory; and a son, Gerald F. Garrison. Visitation will be Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Piedmont.
