Earlene Goldsmith Nall died on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 91 at The Woodlands at Furman, Greenville, SC. She was the widow of Kenneth Lee Nall, her loving husband of 69 years.
Earlene was born in Robinsonville, Alabama to Rolland Leroy “Dink” and Beatrice Findley Goldsmith.
She attended Escambia County High School and graduated with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Home Economics from Auburn University. While at Auburn, Earlene taught in the School of Home Economics as instructor of the Home Management House, the Child Development Laboratory, and the Nursery School. After leaving Auburn, she taught pre-school and elementary classes in the public school systems in Texas, Washington, and Florida before becoming a stay at home mother.
Earlene was a member of the Church of The Redeemer Episcopal, Greenville, SC for many years where she served in various capacities. As an avid and lifelong “prayer warrior”, she dedicated herself specifically to the Prayer Group. She also thoroughly enjoyed being a leader of the Needlepoint Committee and was actively involved in the origination, design, implementation and stitching of a wide array of needlepoint cushions, kneelers and altar frontals that continue to beautifully adorn the sanctuary today. Earlene was also active in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hilton Head Island, SC prior to her years of declining health.
She is survived by her son, Doug Nall (Deidre) of Greer, SC; a daughter, Karen Boyce (Kevin) of Fountain Inn, SC; and three grandsons, Hayden Nall (Erin) of Goose Creek, SC, Rolland Nall and Graham Nall, both of Greer, SC. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Goldsmith Hager of Birmingham, AL; a sister-in-law, Deloris Nall Littleton of Greenville, SC and many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Last, but not least, she is also survived by a most faithful, loving, and loyal friend and caregiver, Katie Hopkins of Travelers Rest, SC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Earlene is predeceased by two sisters, Marie and Cathryn.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the many health care workers that helped compassionately care for Earlene, especially the staff of The Arboretum at The Woodlands at Furman.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Entombment will follow immediately at the conclusion of the service.
Memorials may be made to the Earlene Nall Memorial Fund at The Church of The Redeemer, 120 Mauldin Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the charity of one’s choice.
