Nancy Cash Barron

Nancy Carroll Cash Barron, 78, widow of Julian Brown Barron, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Born in Concord, NC, she was the daughter of the late William G. Cash, Sr. and Mary Smith Cash. Mrs. Barron's early employment was at Southern Railway and then she was Assistant to the Director of Operations of the Physical Plant at Furman University for 33 years. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, NC and Draughons Business College. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for 54 years where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Circle #2. She was loved by all, and never met a stranger. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She especially loved her Furman family and was proud of her association with the university. Finally, she loved all animals, especially dogs and cats, many of whom became family members. Surviving are three sons, William Brown "Bill" Barron and wife Melodie of Greenville, David Mitchell Barron and wife Katherine of Durham, NC, and Philip Douglas Barron and wife Jeanie of Greenville; two brothers, William G. "Buck" Cash, Jr., and John C. "Jack" Cash, both of Concord, NC; seven grandchildren, Brad, Ben, Chris, Scott, Rachel, Alex and Elizabeth Barron; a very special friend, Estell Durham; and three special canine friends, Panzer, Georgia and Pup. She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Cash Sartin. Memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Rd., Greenville, SC 29609 or St. Mark United Methodist Church, 306 N. Franklin Rd., Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of son Bill Barron, 9 Westchester Rd., Greenville, SC 29615.
