Naomi Massigale Hawkins

July 17, 1920 - July 17, 2008
Naomi M. Hawkins, 88, of 504 Wren Way, formerly of Golf Course Road in Piedmont and widow of Douglas A. Hawkins, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at her residence. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Major and Hattie Young Massingale. Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker. She was a member of Grove Road Baptist Church and former member of Reedy River Presbyterian Church. Surviving are three daughters, Sylvia Fullbright and her husband, Paul, of Williamston, Deborah Wingard of Arlington, TX, Jennifer Hawkins of Greenville; two sons, Douglas A. Hawkins, Jr. and his wife, Diana, of Easley, Richard Alvin Hawkins and his wife, Barbara, of Greenville; ten grandchildren, Paul, Robin, Angela, Bobby, Teresa, Tim, Scott, Diane, Rick and Karen; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a sister, Cecil Turner of Greenville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Hawkins, III and a sister, Vivian Hamby. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
