Noel L. Lyons, 59, of Simpsonville, SC passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022, surrounded by his family. Noel was born December 21, 1962, to William Lyons Sr. and Sharon Wilkinson Lyons in Jacksonville, IL. Noel lived most of his life in Rockford, IL before relocating to South Carolina in 2020. He was a member of the Pentecostals of the Upstate.

Noel graduated from Jefferson High School in 1981 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corp., Camp Pendleton, CA.

Noel married Tammy Samaniego on November 29, 1986, and together they built an amazing life. They had two children and five grandchildren. Noel most enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his son, Noel II (Melissa); daughter, Courtney (Braden) Warrens; grandchildren, Olivia, Noel III, Parker, and Jocelyn Lyons; sisters, Tambra Turner and Kimberely (Frank) Kittoe; brother, Edward Lyons; special uncle and aunt, Butch and Jeanie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kensington Lyons and one sister, Carolyn Brown.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.

We always looked forward to our time together, I can't imagine life from now on. Noel would want you guys to carry on and be the loving family that he always believed in and practiced. We support you guys forever and Noel is always in our hearts. The service was beautiful he would have been very happy with Olivia's memories of her pa pa. The songs were so perfect and the girls carried it home they were so good. We love you guys and we will always remember our good times together and pray someday we are all together again. Noel, Brad and I were Marines together at Camp Pendelton. He was a great friend and Marine. We would spend many weekends at my parents' house. They all called my parents MOM and DAD. He was there to support me when my father had his heart attack. Which I'm very grateful. He always said he had a girl at home named Tammy. Sure, enough he married her when he got out. It has been great to see how your family has grown over the years. My God continue to bless your family, you will be in our prayers for peace and comfort.

...it saddens me to know that “Noel Lyons” has moved on. I will remember him fondly and toast a “cheer” once a year to commemorate the times we spent in the “ready defense” of this great country. He spoke dearly of his then fiancé ‘Tammy’; whom I never met but have come to know ever briefly. We were young Marines at one time and I will always cherish that acquaintance. “Noel, be sure to greet Dan D., and Chesty P. Noel was a very good friend whom I have known from our days in the Marine Corp. Noel always had my back and he was someone I could trust without any doubt. If it weren't for Noel and Tammy encouraging me to interview for a job at Motorola in Harvard IL I would have never moved up to Wisconsin back in 2001 where I finally met my wife, Carrie. Noel was best man at my wedding and I think we all can say we had a blast that day. Noel will be badly missed and I only wish I could have been there to say until we meet again. Will miss you old buddy.
