Norman Edd Sims

Norman Edd ?Fireball? Sims, 76, of 105 Cochran Drive, loving husband, father and grandfather, died May 27, 2007. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Susie Ivey Sims. Mr. Sims served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from J.P. Stevens, Dunean Plant after forty-eight years of service He later worked at Fleetpride. Mr. Sims was an early NASCAR driver and an avid fan. He attended the Truth Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville. Surviving are his loving wife, Clairette Porter Sims; four daughters, Norma Jean Marvin Lee, Judy George Collins, Debbie Michael Keller all of Greenville, Tammie Johnny Adams of Pelzer; four sons, Buck Pamela Sims of Williamston, Terrell Sims of Anderson, Pete Donna Porter of Greenville, John H. Glenda Porter of Pelzer; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Surviving also is his beloved dog, Leroy. Mr. Sims was first married to the late Janie Sims and was pre-deceased by a brother, Monroe; and a sister, Midalee. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 noon at Truth Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Truth Missionary Baptist Church Senior Citizens Program, 200 Saluda Dam Road, Greenville, SC 29611. The family is at the residence.
