Paul C. Turner, Jr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, November 18, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital Downtown surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 4, 1924 to Paul C. Turner, Sr. and Jennie Mae McTindal Turner. He served in the U. S. Army Rangers in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from U. S. Finishing, formerly Union Bleachery in 1986. He was a member of Oak Crest Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Parker High School where he was All State and All Southern in basketball. He was State High School golf champion and an outstanding Textile League baseball and basketball player in the Piedmont Textile League. Throughout his life, he was the golf pro and greens superintendent of many area golf courses, including Rolling Green Golf Club, Donaldson, Hillandale and Paris Mountain. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeraldine ?Jerri? Nelson Turner, four sons, Paul ?Rock? C. Turner, III and wife, Darleen, John Turner and wife Helen, Rev. Kyle Turner and wife Darlene, Tim Turner, and ?Adopted Son?, Andrew G. Watson all of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Sherri Turner and special friend, Ellie Gibson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sheila Knoke and husband Rollie of Greer, SC; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Cullen Turner and wife Martha of Morristown, TN and one aunt, Georgia Todd of Asheville, NC. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two sisters, Katherine Atkins and Joyce Taylor and one granddaughter, Michelle Turner. Visitation will be Monday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with burial at Graceland West Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oakcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1 Alabama Ave., Greenville, SC 29611. The family is at the residence.
